A Case Study on Improvement of Anger Control Ability from Family Counseling Approach
Jun Joo-Ram

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of counseling on a 5-year-old boy who showed difficulties in anger control. He showed excessive anger suddenly or whenever he could not get what he wanted. Play therapy was administered for thirteen sessions for four months and family counseling was conducted for his mother for five sessions. The play therapy was focused on improving his anger control ability to help him express his anger properly and communicate appropriately. The family counselling was aimed at mitigating chid care stress and educating desirable parenting attitude. After 13 sessions of play therapy and five sessions of family counseling, the child showed a remarkable decrease in expression of excessive anger without considering circumstances such as throwing things, shouting, and teasing his mother, and his improved anger control ability contributed to improving his relations with his mother and peers.
